Awareness Days

Some National Community Awareness Events that are held Annually in Australia.

The list below is only some suggestions for participation; it is by no means exhaustive. Each local church community needs to discern what is most suitable for them. All of the events on the list are great times to ensure that appropriate prayers for mental health issues are part of worship but remember: Any day is a good day to show support!

(Please check the websites of these events to confirm the exact dates on which they fall each year.)

Annual mental health campaigns began in the 1950s and were originally promoted by the Australian National Association for Mental Health, a peak body that coordinated state associations. However, each state now organises its campaigns separately rather than collaboratively. Mental Health Week / Day / Month is celebrated all around Australia, with each state adopting their own theme and holding their own events each year. The events are timed to coincide with World Mental Health Day (10 OCT).
